Welcome to course number three in a series of rental management online training programs being offered by the AED Foundation. Hopefully you have already completed the first two rental courses as they are intended as building blocks for the rental manager courses. In contrast to the first two courses which were focused on the basics of rental within an equipment dealership and the overall operational flow of the business, course number three focuses the attention on you becoming an effective rental manager. We hope this course will prepare you for excellence in your career development. Let's review the learning objectives for this level one rental management course. We'd like you to know and understand the position of rental manager and how you should allocate and focus your time to yield sustainable profits. We'd also like you to know and understand the operational aspects of fleet management and how to drive maximum performance in your role as an asset manager. We'd also like you to know and understand the financial aspects of managing the rental department and become familiar with industry benchmarks. It's imperative that you know your numbers as you're managing an investment risk for someone else. And lastly, we'd like you to know and understand the methodology for forecasting rental revenues and be competent in creating an annual budget. This also affords you the ability to estimate the financial impact of growing the rental fleet. So let's get started with module one, rental operations. As in any business, we've got three primary responsibilities in being a manager. There's the people aspects, and that's both our employees as well as customers. And then we've got processes, our internal operations and how we do things. And then we've got our products. And in rental, we've got products and services, those things that we wrap around our core products to deliver real value to our customers. So we're going to drill into each of these areas and take a look at, as a rental manager, where you should be spending your time and what you should be focused on.
